Career Services at Saint Mary’s recently released its 2023 First Destinations report, which provides an overview of the outcomes of Saint Mary’s graduates upon completion of their degree. The First Destinations report continues to serve as an excellent analytical tool for Saint Mary’s to reach new students where they are.

Undergraduate College, Class of 2023

The First Destinations for the College Class of 2023 report examines the outcomes of Winona Campus graduates upon completing their bachelor’s degrees.

Of the graduates who responded, 93% are working, attending or applying to graduate school, or participating in a long-term volunteer placement. For respondents who answered the question, 81% reported working in a position related to their field of study. 

Many of the graduates who responded received offers from leading international, national, and regional organizations, including ALDI Inc., Canopy IT Solutions, Fastenal Company, Fidelity Investments, Holy Spirit Catholic School, Mayo Clinic, Minneapolis VA Healthcare System, Portkey SEO Solutions, Rochester Public Schools, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Schechter Dokken Kanter, St. Paul Saints, Star Tribune Media Company, Taylor Corporation, Trane Technologies, Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence, and UNFI.

Thirty-three percent of the graduates who took part in the survey are continuing their education either part-time or full-time, with 69% pursuing a master’s degree, 15% pursuing a professional degree (J.D., M.D.), 5% seeking a doctorate, and 9% seeking additional undergraduate education.

 

Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs, Class of 2023

The First Destinations for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs (SGPP) Class of 2023 report examines the status of SGPP graduates upon completion of their degree. Of the 48% of SGPP graduates who participated in the survey, 92% were employed at the time of the survey.

Many of Saint Mary’s SGPP graduate respondents are employed by leading international, national, and regional organizations, including Abbott; Alina Health; Anoka-Hennepin School District; Big Lake Schools; CARE Counseling; Children’s Minnesota; District 196; Edges Wellness Center, LLC; Fairview Health Services; Fernbrook Family Center; Hopkins Public Schools; Lakeville Area School District; LynLake Centers for Wellbeing; Mahtomedi Public Schools; Mayo Clinic; Numa Psychotherapy; Nystrom & Associates, LTD; Optum; Robbinsdale Area Schools; RSM US LLP, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota; St. Michael-Albertville Public Schools, Saint Paul Public Schools; Self-Employed; South Washington County Schools; State of Minnesota; Target; UnitedHealth Group; Wells Fargo; and Wiley.

Forty-two percent of the SGPP survey respondents indicated advancing their career was their primary career goal when they began at Saint Mary’s, with 18% aiming to do so in the same industry or job function. While 13% hoped to obtain their first job in their desired field, 10% of respondents aimed to move into a leadership role. Seventy-five percent of respondents reported meeting the career goals they had when enrolling at Saint Mary’s.

Of those surveyed, 50% experienced a job or career change while enrolled at Saint Mary’s, with 53% of respondents moving to a new organization. Seventy-four percent reported that their salary increased since enrolling in their program.
