Mathematical Sciences Major: Data Science Track
Visualize data, and your future in data science.
Within our mathematics major, the data science track cultivates a solid foundation in statistics, mathematics, and computing. Integrated coursework prepares you for roles in data analysis, science, and related fields.
As part of the degree program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, you’ll also gain expertise in techniques and tools for exploring, interpreting, and analyzing data across various disciplines, including biology, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, computer science, and data engineering.
By exploring the volume of data across various fields like science and healthcare, you’ll dig deeper into the computational aspects of data, its structures, and methods for accessing it. You’ll study data science methods and practices, including data modeling, SQL, data integrity and security, linear and non-linear models, as well as programming languages such as Python and R.
We believe that mathematics is more than just numbers; it’s a gateway to understanding the intricacies of the world around us. We invite you to explore how mathematics serves as the core of modern data science and contributes to our understanding of the world. Then set out to change it.
On our Winona Campus, you’ll discover a unique place that is alive with more than academics. You’ll not only see students passionate about their chosen majors, but you’ll also feel their contagious enthusiasm. Experience and witness our Lasallian Catholic traditions in action as you become part of our welcoming community. We invite you to explore our data science track within the mathematics major and our vibrant campus community.
