Elementary Education Major: Mathematics Endorsement
Help students see math is not a barrier; it can pave the way to their goals.
At Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, we empower future educators to reshape students’ perceptions of math. In addition to gaining Minnesota licensure for teaching students in grades K-6, our major offers you the change to enhance your expertise with a mathematics endorsement.
Our curriculum does more than cover foundational math; it gives you the skills to teach middle school students in ways that foster curiosity and confidence. You’ll learn how to create engaging lesson plans, manage classrooms effectively, and encourage a supportive, inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring complex concepts.
Alongside elementary education courses—including educational technology, human development, community health, and the social context of schooling—you’ll deepen your understanding of math, from calculus to statistics.
At Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, our distinguished faculty, enriched with extensive practical experience, will serve as your guides in nurturing essential virtues such as wisdom, patience, seal, and generosity. These values are deeply rooted in our longstanding Lasallian Catholic tradition and are central to our mission of preparing graduates for ethical lives of service and leadership.
